Autumn at Arrowwood!

October is such a great time to get out with your family to enjoy nature and wholesome activities.  We have planned a whole month of fun activities to help you enjoy the farm in October.  COVID safety measures will be in place, so please respect all signage and instructions.

October Fall Getaway Lunches
For the month of October, we are offering our fall getaway lunches again.  You can come for a walk through the grounds (free), or drop into The Harvest Table for a tasty lunch and beverages. The menu will have a different cozy Fall Soup and Gourmet Grilled Cheese each week, including coffee/tea – price is $15 per person. Wine, craft beer and desserts will also be available for purchase.  We will post our weekly soup and grilled cheese item on Facebook each week. If you love our dinners, but don’t like driving at night, this is a great alternative.  All meals are made daily with fresh ingredients at The Harvest Table.  We will be open for lunches every Friday in October between 11am and 2pm, starting October 2.  Reservations are requested.

Sunday Afternoons at the Farm (2 to 5pm)
Looking for a fun outdoor event for your family? For October only, the farm will be open Sunday afternoons for you to experience nature at the farm, so don’t miss out.  Take a walk around the farm, visit our animals and enjoy the fall colours.  Pick up our scavenger hunt pages and a map of our farm.  We will have ideas for home-made crafts and activities you can make with your children, so feel free to take home some coloured leaves, acorns or other natural tidbits for your own crafts at home.  For your taste buds, we will have seasonal treats from our kitchen as well as local apple cider, pumpkins and squash available for purchase.  Check out our selection of home-made crafts and local pottery for home décor or Christmas presents!  You can also pick up poultry products (chickens, eggs), frozen blueberries or pre-ordered baking.

Please call ahead to let us know if you are coming to help us manage physical distancing.

Weekly Baking Orders

With the blueberry season over and grass cutting slowing down a bit, Kathy will  be offering weekly baking selections for pick-up.  As well as standards like our signature Blueberry Custard Pie and Delicious Buns, we will post on Facebook a few different seasonal items each week, with pricing. If you are not on Facebook, please email or call us to ask about the weekly choices. Orders due by end of day Tuesdays for pick-up on Friday between 11am and 2pm, or Sunday afternoons (2 to 5pm). Other baking requests also welcomed.  Pumpkin pies will be offered for Thanksgiving weekend!

Farm Update

Now that the berry harvest season is over, the blueberry bushes are growing buds and building new roots for next year’s spring growth.  Maintenance activities include irrigating and fertilizing through our drip irrigation and foliar sprays.

We have a new porcine friend for Pumpkin the Pig!  Rooty Rudy joined us in early September, and they are now good friends.  He is quite a talker!

Our turkeys are starting to gobble as they mature.  We will say goodbye to the white turkeys in mid-October, and dressed birds will be available for purchase.  We also have several frozen 3 pound chickens for sale now, and will have more available in mid-October.  Fresh farm eggs are also available in limited quantities.
